What made you start up Calle Modista?

Calle Modista started after I had made some 60s clothing for family and friends and they had been really pleased with them and it was family really that persuaded me to give it a go. It was something I had thought about for a while but had never really got past the thought stage.

How long have you been making your own clothes for?

I started dressmaking when I was a teenager mainly because I did not want to wear the same as everyone else. Dressmaking and design is a family tradition so I had a lot of inspiration!

What do you enjoy most about having Calle Modista?

I really enjoy all the aspects of having Calle Modista. I obviously really love 60s clothes and I love fabrics, all the matching of cottons, buttons etc. As well as that I love working through different style and design ideas and then the process of sewing as everything comes together.

How did you get into the mod scene?

I got into the Mod scene mainly because I love the music and the clothes from the 60s and it progressed from there. One of the things I love the most about the mod scene is although it celebrates individual style I also feel it is very inclusive and I have met some really lovely people through the mod scene.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

In my spare time...(not that I get that much between working!) I love music, seeing bands, socialising with my friends.. and a good book.

Summer is coming!

Summer is on it's way, people are booking their summer holidays and now you have to think about your summer wardrobe. The most important summer item....swim wear!!
In the 1960's they welcomed the bikini, the most warn item of clothing due in the summer.
I always find it difficult to find bikini's and swimsuits that I like, so I usually Google styles I like before I go on a hunt for one. When searching for swimsuits I look for retro and vintage style ones, so this is just a look at the different types of 1960's ones.

Best Silver Age Comics!

As I am a comic book geek I thought I would share with you all my geekiness but also combining it with 60's theme. It's going to have all the main stream comics included....hope you enjoy.

Marvel:

During the Silver Age, Marvel came into prominence due to a very successful creative run of new characters created by writer/editor Stan Lee. In contrast to previous eras, superheroes in the Silver Age were often flawed and self-doubting.

DC:

After the Golden Age of comics faded out, many of the characters from DC Comics (namely from the Justice Society Of America) were re-booted to have a some-what more logical and scientific origin, therefore establishing characters in a science fiction setting. Storyline's became more far-fetched to show off the characters new potential; Batman and Superman teamed up to save the universe a few dozen times in the World's Finest Comics and sometimes even minor characters like Jimmy Olsen or Lois Lane obtained super-powers.

Information for this post was taken from www.comicvine.com a very good comic book website, one to check out if you have a comic book interest!
